Oppo Find X 5G prototype comes with engineering sample Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and X50 5G modem.
Oppo has unveiled a 5G prototype version of the Find X at the 2018 China Mobile Global Partners Conference. The company has re-emphasized on its commitment towards a new 5G industry ecosystem and again said that it’ll be one of the first company to launch commercial 5G smartphones in 2019.
The Chinese smartphone company has been working on 5G standards, product R&D and the exploration of applications since early in 2015. The Oppo Find X5G prototype comes with engineering sample Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and X50 5G modem, which will offer outstanding 5G performance, said the company in a press statement. It is looking to deepen collaboration with Qualcomm and other supply chain partners.
“We are confident Oppo will be one of the first companies to launch commercial 5G smartphones in 2019,” said Brian Shen, Oppo Global Vice President and President of China Business. “The smartphone will be at the core of a wide range of smart devices, which will all be connected through the 5G network. To address the areas of ‘smart health’ and ‘smart home’, Oppo has already begun work on several smart devices, exploring the intersection of 5G and cutting-edge technologies, and is collaboratively building a 5G+ innovation ecosystem with the entire industry.”
Oppo is an important strategic partner of China’s largest telecom service provider China Mobile. The company also noted that it will continue to accelerate the commercialization of 5G devices and build a new ecosystem for the 5G industry through China Mobile’s ‘5G Device Forerunner Initiative’.
