Xiaomi finally launches the long-time talked about Mi 9T in the European market on Wednesday. As rumoured, the Mi 9T is the rebranded version of the Redmi K20 that went official in China last month and is coming to India very soon. The Mi 9T is almost the Redmi K20 in terms of both design and specifications, with some slight changes. The biggest change between the two phones is one comes with Mi branding while the other comes with Redmi brand, which is now an independent entity. Xiaomi has launched the Mi 9T for starting price of 329 euro for the base model of the smartphone.
The Xiaomi Mi 9T comes in two RAM and storage variants. The base model of the phone includes 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. As noted, this model of the phone comes for a price tag of 329 euro that roughly translates to Rs 25,800. The second version of the Mi 9T comes packed with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. This model of the phone comes for 369 euro that translates to Rs 29,999 approx.
As far as the specs are concerned, the Xiaomi Mi 9T comes packed with a 6.39-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display. The phone doesn’t include dot drop notch like the Redmi Note 7 series instead comes with a pop-up selfie camera. The presence of the pop-up selfie camera increases the screen-to-body ratio to of 91.9 per cent and crops the side bezels. Similar to all other recently launched Xiaomi phones the Mi 9T also includes P2i nano-coating and is covered with a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back. The Mi 9T comes with NFC support that will make the payment process easier than ever before.
On the camera front, the Mi 9T includes a single 20MP pop-up selfie camera on the front. On the rear panel, the phone includes an AI-based triple camera setup that includes 48MP Sony IMX582 sensor + 8MP sensor + 13MP sensor. In comparison to Mi 9T, the Redmi K20 packs Sony IMX586 sensor. On the hardware front similar to the Redmi K20 the Mi 9T also comes with Snapdragon 730 processor. The phone is backed by a 4000mAh battery. For the Mi 9T Xiaomi takes care of 3.5mm headphone jack, Type C charging port, among other things.
As for the India launch, the Mi 9T will not come to India. Instead, Xiaomi will launch the Redmi K20 in the country. Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Jain has confirmed that the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro will launch in the country by mid-July. the India launch date of the Redmi K20 series is yet to be revealed by the company.
