Assam cataracts Over 54 Lakh Affected, 12 New Deaths Reported moment
Guwahati The flood tide situation in Assam remained grim on Thursday with over54.5 lakh people still affected and 12 fresh deaths reported, officers said.
The risk due to the flood tide sincemid-May is now 101, they said.
Brahmaputra and Barak gutters along with its feeders are in torrent in utmost of the affected sections and vast tracts of land remained submersed in 32 of the total 36 sections in the state. The flood tide waters, still, retreated in a many places.
Altogether,658 persons were vacated with the help of 276 boats across the state by NDRF, SDRF and other agencies during the day, according to the bulletin.
Over,500 deserted people have been saved by the NDRF in 12 flood tide- affected sections of Assam, an functionary said.
The 1st Battalion Disaster Response Force of NDRF swung into deliverance operations in the affected sections and stationed further than 70 boats and 400 men in the heavily swamped sections, its assistant commander Santosh Kumar Singh told PTI.
An fresh eight brigades from other hosts with 207 labor force were airlifted to Silchar since Tuesday, he said.
The deliverance operations are being conducted by NDRF in Kamrup, Kamrup Rural, Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Bajali, Hojai, Nalbari, Darang, Tamulpur, Nagaon, Udalguri, and Cachar, Singh said.
The force is also engaged in aiding the quarter administrations in distributing relief accoutrements to the affected people, he said.
According to the Central Water Commission( CWC) bulletin Kopili swash is flowing above the peril position at Kampur in Nagaon quarter, Disang swash in Sivasagar, Brahmaputra at Nimatighat, Tezpur, Goalpara and Dhubri, Barak swash at Karimganj, Cachar and Hailakandi quarter and Kushiara at Karimganj.
The Barak Valley sections- Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj were oppressively hit by the rising water of Barak and Kushiara gutters. Silchar city is submerged for the last four days due to a breach in an dam.
A total people have been by the flood tide in 565 townlets in Cachar quarter, in 469 townlets of Karimganj and over,000 in 98 townlets in Hailakandi.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is listed to visit Silchar on Thursday to review the flood tide situation in the Valley.
A total population were affected in 32 sections of the state.
The worst affected sections are Barpeta where are affected, followed by Kamrup with, Dhubri with and Nagaon with people in the flood tide, according to a bulletin of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority( ASDMA) on Thursday.
Civic flooding was reported from Cachar, Darrang, Goalpara, Karimganj and Morigaon.
The ruinous cataracts caused by ceaseless downfall has affected 112 profit circles and 4941 townlets forcing people to take sanctum in 845 relief camps, it said.
